Muskox. These relics from the Ice Age were once hunted to extinction in Alaska, but thanks in part to the efforts of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center they are becoming numerous once again.

As the largest members of the Deer family, moose can weigh over 1,600 pounds. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is home to several moose that were orphaned or injured when young, but they are also not uncommon to find along the highways or roaming right in the middle of Anchorage. With dramatic views of ocean, glaciers, and mountains, the Seward Highway running along Turnagain Arm ranks among the Top Ten Scenic Drives in the United States.

Alaskan wildflowers proliferate in the summer adding color to an already stunning landscape. The fireweed seen here is one of the most abundant and iconic.

The birch and cottonwood trees of the Kenai Peninsula begin to display their dazzling fall foliage in late August and September.

Bald Eagles are commonly seen fishing along Turnagain Arm in early summer.

Dall Sheep. We often see these nimble climbers on the cliffs overlooking the Seward Highway. You'll be amazed at the ease with which they can handle the sheer rock walls.
